The Details

Tasting Note Pale yellow straw in colour. Aromas of fine native daisy florals, lemon/lime butter and orange rind. The palate is fresh with zippy, slatey acidity and textured complexity. Flavours are expressive and layered with hints of green apple, feijoa, dried lavender, grapefruit and apricot kernel.
Best Enjoyed With It’s hard to see past the perfect food match of freshly shucked Tasmanian oysters, although fried haloumi or fish and chips with tartar sauce pair well too. For something a little different, try with a salad of ancient grains, salt bush and pomegranate.
Treatment Our Riesling is handpicked from part of a small 3-hectare block of mature vines. The vines enjoyed a long ripening season that helped the grapes reach optimum ripeness without compromising grape quality.

Taut and focused
From little-known Sorell, 13km east of Tasmania's Coal River home of Richmond, comes this precise and delicious Riesling courtesy of Parish Vineyards. The third wine tasted in the Parish Vineyards range, this joins a smart set of wines from Tasmanian sites including the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Gris. Taut and focused, its steely and minerally drive can't be missed. Green apples, a laser like lime juice and grapefruit citrusy tang make this a pleasure to drink. Bone dry, pretty scents of sea spray rise up once the wine warms up a little in the glass. A fabulous drink now, but I'd be most curious to see it with some age under its belt. Drink to five years+
